BORDERONJulien Borderon

Head of the Building, Construction and Real Estate Group at Cerema Est

A Chief Civil Engineer for the French government and a Doctor of Civil Engineering specialising in building thermal performance, Julien Borderon has been involved for several years in projects related to sustainable construction, primarily the renovation of existing buildings. He has been a recognised international expert on the Building Committee of the ministries responsible for housing, ecology and sustainable development since 2015. He currently holds the position of Head of the Building, Construction and Real Estate Group at Cerema, Eastern Regional Directorate. He has led several scientific and technical projects for the National Research Agency, ADEME and the Ministry of Sustainable Development. His areas of expertise are heat and water transfer and energy, and he is a technical contributor to the CREBA resource centre for the responsible renovation of old buildings and works to promote his favourite topics at European level.

HEBERLEÉlodie HÉBERLÉ

Head of Energy and Environment Studies within the Building, Construction and Real Estate Group at Cerema Est

A divisional engineer with the French Public Works Department and holder of a Master's degree in building research, Elodie Héberlé has been working since 2009 on the issue of hygrothermal transfers and the energy renovation of old buildings. She is recognised as an international expert in building by the Ministry for Ecological Transition. She has led and contributed to numerous studies on the subject, including ‘Old housing in Alsace: energy efficiency improvements and heritage conservation’ and ‘HYGROBA: study of the hygrothermal renovation of old walls’. Since 2018, she has been the technical manager of CREBA (resource centre for the responsible renovation of old buildings www.creba.fr) and has represented it on the committees awarding the experimental Effinergie-Patrimoine label. She is the coordinator of the MOOC ‘Designing responsible energy rehabilitation of old buildings’ (2022-...) and the continuing education course ‘Energy and environmental improvement of heritage buildings’ at the Ecole de Chaillot (2022-...). Since 2023, she has been participating in the European research project CALECHE (Coherent Acceptable Low Emission Cultural Heritage Efficient Renovation), where she is interested in measuring the airtightness of old windows.

GOURLAYEtienne Gourlay

Head of Scientific Research, ‘Performance of Bio-based Materials,’ within the Building, Construction and Real Estate Group at Cerema Est

As a divisional engineer for public works and a doctor of civil engineering specialising in bio-based construction materials, I have been involved for several years in projects related to sustainable construction and the consideration of the hygrothermal performance of bio-based materials. I am a recognised international expert on the Building Committee of the French ministries responsible for housing, ecology and sustainable development, and in 2024 my recognition as a researcher by CESAAR was renewed. I am currently an associate researcher with Cerema's ‘Environmentally Efficient Buildings’ research team and coordinate several projects aimed at characterising and modelling the behaviour of bio- and geo-based materials.
